Here are some instructions on how to change your iPhone icons on your home screen by creating iPhone shortcuts. For each icon you will need to create a shortcut, this can be a time consuming process, BUT once you have them set the first time, switching them out later is a breeze. To create an iPhone shortcut, follow the steps below:
How to Create iPhone Shortcuts
STEP 1:
Open the "Shortcuts" app.
STEP 2:
Select the "+" to add/create a new shortcut.
STEP 3:
Select the down arrow then select "Rename your Shortcut"
STEP 4:
Select "Add Action"
STEP 5:
Select "Scripting" - then select "Open App"
NOTE: There are SO many different types of actions you can apply to a shortcut, but for this instructional process I will show you the basic "opening the app" shortcut. This will simply open the app associated with your designated icon shortcut.
STEP 6:
Select the "App" type next to "Open" to select a specific app.
STEP 7:
Type to search for your specific app in the search bar. Then select the specific app you want to create a shortcut with.
NOTE: for the purpose of this instructional tutorial I am using the "App Store" app as an example. Here is where you will choose the same OR a different app when creating each shortcut for the shortcuts specific to your desired use.
STEP 8:
Select the drop-down arrow from the top of the shortcut, then select "Add to Home Screen"
STEP 9:
Select the "image" then select "Choose Photo"
STEP 10:
Select the icon image you want to use from your photo album.
STEP 11A:
Change the name to match the icon name you want to be displayed on your home screen, then select "Add" at the top of your screen to add the icon to your iPhone home screen.
STEP 11B:
OR if you do not want a name to display on your home screen for your icon, you can delete the text from this area and leave it blank, then select "Add" at the top of your screen to add it to your iPhone home screen.
NOTE: by erasing the name from this area you can create a "minimalist" aesthetic on your iPhone home screen by hiding the text of each app name and only displaying the icon by itself. Here is an example of an icon WITH the name and WITHOUT the name.
